Former Ukrainian biathlete returned Russian citizenship

Biathlete Ekaterina Bekh, expelled from the national team of Ukraine, returned her citizenship to Russia

Biathlete Ekaterina Bekh, expelled from the Ukrainian national team, returned her citizenship to Russia. This was announced to TASS by the head of the Biathlon Federation of the Moscow Region Alexei Nuzhdov.

Nuzhdov said that the 24-year-old athlete took the oath earlier on May 3. He stressed that Beh will train in the group of Evgeny Kuvaev and Oleg Spiridonov in the team of the Moscow region.

On May 12, it became known that Beh wanted to return Russian citizenship. Then it was reported that the athlete is in the status of a refugee and is collecting documents.

The exclusion from the national team of Ukraine Beh, as well as Olga Abramova and Oksana Moskalenko became known on April 14. Coach Yevgeniy Kolupaev explained that, based on the results of last season, they did not fulfill the criteria for getting into the team and receiving wages.

Beh began playing for the Ukrainian national team in 2018. In 2019, the biathlete became a two-time world junior champion.
