Suspects in attack on CSKA basketball player Shved detained

The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the arrest in Moscow of those suspected of attacking CSKA basketball player Shved

The suspects in the attack on CSKA basketball player Alexei Shved were detained. This is stated in the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“In the shortest possible time, Moscow police officers detained suspects of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm to the leading player of the CSKA basketball team,” said Russian Interior Ministry spokeswoman Irina Volk.

Moskovsky Komsomolets reported that three men were detained – they are natives of the Caucasus, 20, 19 and 17 years old. The latter, a day after the fight, sought medical help due to a leg injury.

The attack on Shved became known on May 2. In a fight at the entrance to a restaurant in the center of Moscow, a basketball player suffered a head injury as a result of a fall and was taken to the hospital. CSKA said that nothing threatens his life.

On May 1, for the first time in history, CSKA did not reach the final of the VTB United League. The army team lost to the Lokomotiv Kuban club in the seventh match of the semifinal playoff series of the tournament. The Red and Blues failed to win the title for the second year in a row.
