The International Canoe Federation allowed Russian athletes in a neutral status
The International Canoe Federation (ICF) allowed Russian athletes to compete in neutral status. This was reported on the website of the organization.
The ICF said the decision was made after consultations with the international community. It is noted that an independent commission will be created to consider applications from the Russians. The timing of the admission of athletes will be announced after the establishment of rules and regulations.
On April 29, another international federation, judo, allowed the Russians to participate in international tournaments. The IJF has hired an independent company to verify the biographical data and social media of all athletes entered for the tournaments.
On March 28, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be suspended from participation in the starts. It was noted that teams from these countries cannot be considered as participants in the competition.
