According to a Turkish news agency, a male Fenerbahçe fan suffered a heart attack in celebration of the winning goal against Galatasaray.
A Turkish Fenerbahçe fan died on Sunday after suffering a heart attack after the winning goal scored in added time by his club in the Istanbul derby against Galatasaray, the Turkish press agency DHA reported on Monday.
After losing 1-0 on the Galatasaray court, Fenerbahçe equalized in the 31st minute with a goal from Mesüt Özil. But the outcome came in added time of the game, in the 94th minute, with a cross shot from the Portuguese midfielder of Fenerbahçe Miguel Crespo.
Ahmet Uysal, 60, was in a coffee shop in Alasehir, a town in western Turkey.
According to DHA, the man, “a Fenerbahçe fan”, suffered a heart attack in celebration of the goal. After the hospital was transferred, the doctors could not save his life.
Fenerbahçe, who have not won a league game since October 3, are fifth in the table with 23 points from 13 games, seven points behind leaders Trabzonspor.
Galatasaray (21 points) are eighth ahead of Besiktas (20 points), the third great club in Istanbul. (D)
