The Diaz team explained the participation of the fighter in a street fight with the words “it was self-defense”
Zach Rosenfield, a spokesman for former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Nate Diaz, spoke out about the prison term that threatens the athlete because of a street fight. His words are quoted by MMA Junkie.
“The evidence clearly indicates that trained fighter Rodney Petersen was aggressively pursuing Nate with the intent to fight him, and Nate was acting purely in self-defense,” Rosenfield explained.
Earlier on April 25, MMA Fighting reported that the New Orleans police had issued an arrest warrant for Diaz. He is charged with second-degree battery. It is noted that for this the athlete can be punished by imprisonment for up to eight years, a fine of two thousand dollars, or both.
In total, during his professional career, Diaz fought 34 fights, 21 of which ended in victory. In November 2022, he left the UFC, where he had competed since February 2007.
