Russian tennis player Pavel Kotov swore at his mother during a match of the ATP Masters 1000 series tournament in Madrid. The athlete’s comment is available on the Tbn Tennis Team Telegram channel.
“Mom, if you don’t quit now [лицо]I’ll hit you with a ball, is that clear?” the athlete said. He later stated that he apologized to his mother and added that he set a bad example with his disgusting behavior. According to Kotov, he does not always manage to control himself on the court.
In the semi-finals of the qualification, Kotov played with the Belgian representative Kimmer Koppeyans. The meeting ended with the score 6:4, 3:6, 7:6 in favor of the Russian.
Russian and Belarusian tennis players continue to play at the tournaments of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) in a neutral status.
