Russian tennis player Dyachenko removed from Polish airline flight due to her citizenship
Russian tennis player Vitalia Dyachenko on her Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and banned) spoke about the fact that the Polish airline LOT removed her from the flight because of the nationality of the athlete.
The Russian woman said that she was supposed to fly from Cairo to the tournament in Nice with a transfer in Warsaw, but the airline staff refused to let her on board, citing LOT rules prohibiting the transportation of Russians. “Does it really help improve the situation in the world?” Dyachenko asked.
The athlete said that she had to stay at the Cairo airport for 18 hours. Because of this, she missed the competition in Nice. “I hope for freedom from politics, racism and Nazism. Just peace and clear skies, please!” — wrote the Russian woman.
32-year-old Dyachenko is in 250th place in the ranking of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). She has one title in the tournaments of the organization in doubles.
