Olympic rowing vice-champion Anna Prakaten will move to the national team of Uzbekistan
Vice-champion of the Olympic Games in singles rowing competitions, Russian Anna Prakaten will change her sports citizenship. This was announced to TASS by the President of the Russian Rowing Federation (FGSR) Alexei Svirin.
Svirin said that Prakaten will move to the national team of Uzbekistan. “Of course, her departure for our team is a serious loss, but every athlete is free to choose his own destiny. Now our top athletes have a difficult time, it is very difficult to find motivation in the conditions of suspension, ”he said.
The functionary noted that due to the suspension, the athlete thought about ending her career, but decided to continue her career by changing the flag. “The Uzbek Federation, with which we had close contact last year, previously stated that it was ready to host Russian athletes,” Svirin added.
In addition to the silver of the Olympic Games, Prakaten also has the gold of the European Championship. Until 2016, she played for the Belarus team.
