Sergey Karjakin called the tenth game of Nepomniachtchi and Liren a championship-level game
Russian grandmaster Sergey Karjakin estimated the third consecutive draw in the match for the title of world chess champion between Russian Ian Nepomniachtchi and Chinese Ding Liren. Karjakin’s words are quoted by RT.
“Ian Nepomniachtchi surprised in the opening, to which Ding Liren promptly reacted and got an extra pawn. But the Chinese grandmaster didn’t have enough chances to win, and that’s why it turned out to be a draw,” said Karjakin. He called this meeting a championship-level game and noted that it was very different from the previous ones, because there were no serious mistakes in it.
Earlier on April 23, Nepomniachtchi and Liren drew in the tenth game of the match for the world chess crown. The game ended on the 45th move. After it, the Russian took the lead – 5.5:4.5.
The current world champion is Norwegian Magnus Carlsen, who previously refused to defend the title, citing a lack of motivation. In December 2021, he beat Nepomniachtchi 7.5:3.5.
