Rapid reaction forces (special forces) of Sudan attacked a convoy organized by the French embassy to evacuate citizens. According to TASS, this statement was made by the Sudanese army.
“The rapid reaction force attacked the convoy of the French embassy during the evacuation,” the Al Arabiya TV channel quoted a statement from the Sudanese Armed Forces. According to the army, as a result of a shootout near the building of the diplomatic mission, one Frenchman was injured, Al Hadath TV channel reports.
For their part, the Rapid Reaction Forces (Special Forces) held the Sudanese army responsible for the incident. According to the statement, “the rapid reaction force was attacked by aircraft [ВС Судана] during the evacuation of French citizens from the embassy, which endangered the lives of French citizens and led to the injury of one of them. “In coordination with the French government, a convoy of French citizens moved this morning from the evacuation point at the embassy and passed through North Khartoum in the direction of Omdurman,” the document says. The special forces claim that because of this attack and in order to ensure the safety of the evacuation process, the French and their guards had to be returned. The Rapid Reaction Forces accused the army of violating international and humanitarian law and the ceasefire regime.
The Sudanese army on Friday evening announced its readiness to observe a humanitarian truce in the country for three days. On Thursday, the opposing rapid reaction forces announced their agreement to observe the ceasefire during the start of the Muslim holiday of breaking the fast, Eid al-Fitr (Eid al-Fitr).
