Last Tuesday, Ecuador’s Djorkaeff Reasco ended a goal drought that had lasted almost seven months with a superb strike to help Newell’s Old Boys to a 3-0 win over Bolivia’s Blooming.

“When I calmed down and focused, the goal arrived. I was looking for a goal for a long time and it didn’t come to me. The striker lives off goals and that’s something that was missing. The professional staff helped me a lot to work on it,” said the tricolor player in a conversation with Rosary 3.

The red and black team established themselves at the head of Group E with 6 points from two games, but basically, as pointed out by the Argentine press, the result left several relevant facts on an individual level – especially on the side of the tricolor – and also from a collective point of view in the team led by Albiceleste World Cup player Gabriel Heinze.

Namely, the Argentinian coach gave his trust to the tricolors, to whom he did not hide his gratitude for their support.

“When I arrived after the World Cup, I spoke with him (Heinze) and I found confidence in him. Daily work and effort strengthen the group, with all skills. I enjoy football and the place where I play, whether I am a starter or on the bench. I see my teammates every day and I’m glad when everything is going well for them,” he said.

He was also one of the players who were criticized by leprous fans because he did not score for a long time. “A football player must know how to live with criticism, we are human and we make mistakes. The nice thing about football is to make mistakes and try,” concluded Reasco. (D)
