The game
The home team opened the scoring just after the break. Two minutes into the second half, Diogo Jota took advantage of Fabinho’s attempt after a corner kick and headed it into the back of the net.
Nottingham Forrest’s reaction was immediate. In the sixth minute, ex-Liverpool Neco Williams received a free kick on the right, kicked and had a deflection in the defense to tie the match.
The game continued at an intense pace, with chances for both teams. At 10 minutes of the second half, Robertson took a lateral free kick and crossed the area. The ball stopped in Jota, who dominated and kicked hard in the corner of goalkeeper Navas, with no chance of defense.
At 22, Nottingham threatened Liverpool with a long lateral thrown into the area. After rebounding from the defence, Gibbs-White volleyed in and scored a fine goal to level the score at Anfield.
In the 25th minute of the final stage, Liverpool scored again from a dead ball. Alexander-Arnold crossed in the area and Salah, even being grabbed by the scorer, managed to shoot on goal and decree the victory by 3 to 2.
