RB Business: ex-hockey players of Salavat Yulaev returned 93.8 million rubles to the club
Former players of Salavat Yulaev, playing in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), returned the money to the team for the early termination of contracts in March 2022. It is reported by “RB Business” with reference to the financial statements of the club.
According to the publication, the amount of compensation amounted to 93.8 million rubles. During the playoffs of the Gagarin Cup-2022, Danish defender Philip Larsen, Canadian forward Jeff Platt, as well as four Finnish legionaries left the Ufa team – goalkeeper Juha Metsola and forwards Markus Granlund, Sakari Manninen and Temu Hartikainen.
On April 13, 2022, the General Director of Salavat Yulaev, Rinat Bashirov, commented on the departure of foreigners. “I think they are not against returning, but the current situation is not conducive to this,” Bashirov said. However, then he estimated the probability of returning hockey players to the team at one percent.
In the 2021/2022 season, the Ufa club reached the second round of the KHL playoffs, where they lost to Traktor Chelyabinsk. In the 2022/2023 season, the team was eliminated from the fight for the trophy in the first round of the playoffs.
