Spartak coach Abaskal apologized to the fans after the club’s departure from the Russian Cup
The head coach of the Moscow “Spartak” Guillermo Abascal commented on the departure of the team from the Cup of Russia. His words are quoted by Sport24.
“We did everything we could, but unfortunately we didn’t make it to the next round. It happens in football. I saw that the team did not give up. I can’t help but pay tribute to the opponent, I wish them good luck in the future, ”said Abascal. He also apologized to the fans of the red and white and added that now the club will focus on playing in the Russian championship.
Earlier, on April 19, Spartak lost 2:1 away to Akron Togliatti in the second stage of the semi-final of the Way of Regions of the Russian Cup. The hosts scored Andres Ponce and Nikita Saltykov. The only goal of the guests was scored by Tomas Tavares.
“Spartak” takes the third place in the standings of the championship of Russia. The club will play the next meeting at home on April 24 against Krasnodar.
