CAS commented on the timing of the hearings on the doping case of Valieva

The CAS said that the date of the hearing on the doping case of figure skater Valieva has not yet been determined

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) commented on the timing of the hearing in the doping case of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. The press service of the organization is quoted by TASS.

“Undecided yet,” the CAS said in response to a question about the date of the hearing on appeals against the decision in the case of the 16-year-old athlete.

On January 13, the disciplinary committee of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency, which is an independent body from the main organization, informed the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) of Valieva’s innocence. At the same time, the skater was deprived of the gold of the Russian Championship-2022. Later, the International Skating Union and WADA appealed to CAS, in which they called for the athlete to be disqualified and her results annulled.

At the 2022 Olympics, Valieva won gold in the team competition, but the Russian team was not awarded due to a doping scandal with her participation. In the sample of the skater from December 2021, traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found. At the same time, CAS allowed her to participate in the individual tournament, where she took fourth place.
