Chelsea take the lead, but take Brighton’s turn in the Premier League

Chelsea’s bad run of the season seems to have no end. This Saturday, the Blues were beaten 2-1 by Brighton at Stamford Bridge. Gallagher opened the scoring for the home team, but Welbeck and Enciso turned the match valid for the 31st round of the Premier League.

With the stumbling block at home, Chelsea are in their fifth straight game without a win in the English Premier League and are in 11th place in the table. Last Wednesday, Frank Lampard’s team was defeated by Real Madrid 2-0on Wednesdays Champions League.

The game

The match started very busy and Chelsea opened the scoring in the 13th minute. Mykhailo Mudryk drove the ball up the line and passed it to Conor Gallagher. The midfielder took a risk from afar, the shot deflected off the defender and left no chances for the Brighton goalkeeper to save.

Despite the goal conceded, the visitors’ posture did not change and Brighton continued exchanging passes from the defense to find spaces in the attack. At 25 minutes, Kaoru Mitoma made a line of dribbles in the Chelsea defenders and kicked in the back foot of Kepa, but the Spanish goalkeeper made a difficult defense and sent it to the bottom line.

In the 33rd minute, Evan Ferguson received a cross in the small area and headed it in from close range, but Kepa made another great save from close range. In the 41st minute, Chelsea’s defense pulled away badly and Pascal Groß crossed for Danny Welbeck, who rose more than the defenders and tied the game. In stoppage time in the first half, Christian Pulisic headed the crossbar.

On the way back from the break, the match continued to be dominated by Brighton. Coach Lampard made changes to try to change the game and put on the field players like Ziyech, Kovacic, Reece James and João Félix. Despite this, the visitors turned the score around.

In the 24th minute, Solly March pulled Brighton’s counterattack and passed to Julio Enciso. The promising young Paraguayan shot from outside the area and hit the angle to score a great goal at Stamford Bridge.
