In the city of Dresden in eastern Germany, an unexploded World War II bomb was found during construction work. According to RBC with reference to Bild and MDR, because of this, the authorities decided to evacuate about 15 thousand residents

The bomb was discovered on the afternoon of April 14 at the corner of Zwickauer Strasse and Glauchauer Strasse in the southern suburbs of Dresden. Because of this, residents of the zone within a radius of 1 km from the place where the bomb was discovered were asked to leave their homes before 9:00 on April 15 (10:00 Moscow time), writes MDR. The evacuation affected the areas of Plauen, Kotta and Altstadt, where approximately 15 thousand people live.

We are talking about an American-made projectile weighing 250 kg, the radio station notes. The sappers concluded that the bomb was still dangerous, so it was decided to defuse it on the spot.

People still remain in the houses, the police go around the apartments, urging residents to leave the area, police spokesman Marko Laske said. For this reason, the disposal of the projectile had to be postponed.

The authorities restricted the movement of city buses in the evacuated areas. There are also no trains running on the nearby railroad tracks.
