The Ministry of Sports of Ukraine banned athletes from participating in competitions with Russians and Belarusians
The Ministry of Sports of Ukraine has banned Ukrainian athletes from competing with Russians and Belarusians. The corresponding order is published on the department’s website.
“Forbid the official delegations of the national teams of Ukraine to participate in international sports competitions in which athletes from the Russian Federation and / or Belarus take part,” the document says.
Earlier, Oleg Nemchinov, a member of the executive committee of the Ukrainian Olympic Committee, said that Ukrainian athletes were banned from participating in the qualifying competitions for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris along with the Russians.
At the end of February 2022, most sports organizations suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus on the recommendation of the IOC. The decision on the participation of representatives of these countries in the 2024 Olympics has not yet been made.
