Two-time world figure skating champion Evgenia Medvedeva turned to the Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov. Her words are quoted by Sport24.

The athlete wished Kostomarov, who survived several amputations, health and strength for recovery, noting that Russian skaters support him throughout the entire recovery process. “Personally, I did not go to him. I know that the situation is serious and not for strangers. I don’t think Roma needs our company at the moment,” Medvedev said.

On March 31, information appeared that the skater could be transferred to a clinic in Germany to create and install prostheses. However, Kostomarov’s wife Oksana Domnina denied this.

Kostomarov was hospitalized on 10 January. He was diagnosed with left-sided pneumonia in combination with influenza B. According to Moskovsky Komsomolets, the skater was amputated with both feet, then the shins of both legs, the entire right hand, and several fingers of the left hand.
