International Triathlon Union decided to return Russians and Belarusians to tournaments

The International Triathlon Union (World Triathlon) has decided to return the Russians and Belarusians to the tournaments. This was reported on the website of the organization.

It is noted that the World Triathlon Executive Committee supported the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and removed the suspension from the representatives of the two countries. “World Triathlon is working with the IOC and the Association of International Olympic Summer Sports Federations (ASOIF) to develop the screening process required to allow athletes and officials to participate in events,” the statement said.

On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes associated with the armed forces or security agencies of the two countries are recommended to be suspended from participating in tournaments.

Russians and Belarusians have been banned from participating in international competitions since March 2022.
