Bayern expresses support for Upamecano, victim of racist insults

O Bayern Munchen denounced this Wednesday the racist insults against the French player Dayot Upamecano, published on social networks after the game in which his team lost 3-0 to Manchester Cityin the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

“Everyone in the club denounces racism in the strongest possible way! The whole club is with you, Upa!” Published Bayern in a comment left on the athlete’s Instagram account.

The France centre-back did not perform well against City on Tuesday, making several mistakes, including one that resulted in the England team’s second goal.

After the match, several followers posted racist messages on social media criticizing his performance.

“It’s very difficult for ‘Upa’ but his presence is not in question. He has great qualities and we believe in him,” said Bayern captain Joshua Kimmich after the game.
