Masalitin advised CSKA player Igor Diveev to move to a European club instead of Zenit
Former CSKA striker Valery Masalitin advised CSKA Igor Diveev to move to a European club instead of Zenit. His words are quoted by Gazeta.Ru.
Masalitin called Diveev one of the best central defenders of the Russian Premier League (RPL) and said that he would fit into the system of St. Petersburg head coach Sergei Semak without any problems. “But, for me, if he has options, then it’s better to go abroad and prove himself there,” he added.
Earlier, “Championship” reported that “Zenith” is interested in Diveev. The source of the publication noted that the club will make an official offer to the Russian defender if he does not renew the contract with CSKA.
On March 1, Diveev said that he would like to continue his career in a European club. “I have not played against these teams, although, of course, I look and see what kind of football is in the same Italy. Am I ready to play there? To be honest, yes,” he said.
Diveev has played 12 matches in the current RPL season, in which he scored one goal and made one assist. His contract with CSKA runs until June 2024.
