Vyalbe called traitors Russians who agree to act under a neutral flag
The head of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR), Elena Vyalbe, assessed the possible performance of domestic athletes in tournaments on the terms of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Her words are reported by Match TV.
Vyalbe called Russians traitors who would agree to take part in competitions under a neutral flag. “I am for each person to decide for himself. But at the same time, I am deeply convinced that 99.99 percent of Russian athletes, in response to the requirement to fill out a refusal declaration and compete without a flag and an anthem, will answer “no,” she added.
Earlier, Vyalbe said that playing under a neutral flag would cause hatred from fans. “This will lead to a split in society,” she said.
On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes associated with the armed forces or security agencies of the two countries are recommended to be suspended from participation in tournaments.
