The Uruguayan Fede Valverde is at the center of a controversy for having hit, according to the media, the player of the Villarreal Álex Baena, who claimed in the nets to have been attacked without giving the name of the midfielder of “Celeste”, on Saturday after his team’s 3-2 victory over Real Madrid.
“Very saddened by the attacks I suffered after the game and surprised by what people are saying about me. It is completely false that I said that”, Baena wrote on Twitter early this Sunday.
Very happy with the team’s impressive victory at a venue like the Santiago Bernabéu, but at the same time very sad for the aggression I suffered after the game and surprised by what is being said about me. IT IS COMPLETELY FALSE THAT I SAID THAT. pic.twitter.com/PPHpf7xhK8

According to the Spanish media, the Villarreal player made a comment to Valverde about his son and the Uruguayan reacted after the match with a punch in his face.
Television images show the player boarding the Villarreal bus with the area of his left eye swollen.
Real Madrid and Villarreal did not respond to the AFP to comment on the incident.
“Valverde, thick and cowardly,” wrote Villarreal delegate Xisco Nadal on Twitter, a message he ended up deleting later.
Referee Javier Alberola Rojas did not include any reference to the incident in his match report.
