Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson, currently in the Manchester Citycommented on the chance to face the Benfica in a possible final of the Champions League. The 29-year-old athlete defended the Portuguese club for two years, between 2015 and 2017, and said he would like to meet his former team along the way in the Champions League.
“I believe it can happen. Each game has its story, we know how the Champions League is. I really wanted that to happen, but we know the adversities that we will face in this first round. I think that a lot can happen. Of course I wanted to face the Benfica, because it’s a club that I like a lot and I always carry it with me”, he revealed.
Manchester City will face the Bayern Munchen in the quarterfinals of the competition, while Benfica duel against Inter Milan for a spot in the semifinals. Both clashes have their first leg this Tuesday, at 4 pm (Brasília time).
Bayern, opponent of Ederson’s City at the moment, has in its squad João Cancelo, borrowed by the Manchester team. The Brazilian goalkeeper also commented on this imminent clash against the Portuguese athlete.
“It won’t be strange to face João. In football we are prone to this type of situation. Today he is your partner and tomorrow he can be an opponent. For me it will be normal, like any opponent. After the game it is another story”, he stated.
