UFC fighter Israel Adesanya called the victory over Alex Pereira sweet
New Zealand mixed martial artist (MMA) Israel Adesanya during a press conference broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), commented on the victory over Brazilian Alex Pereira in the main fight of the UFC 287 tournament.
The athlete said that he had been going to this victory for a long time, and called it sweet. “I hope that for once in your life you will feel as happy as I am now. But you will never be as happy if you do not strive for something in your life,” he said.
Adesanya knocked out Pereira in the second round. Thus, the New Zealander regained the UFC middleweight title, lost after losing to the Brazilian in their previous fight.
The fighters first met in the octagon in November 2022. Then Adesanya lost to Pereira by technical knockout in the fifth round.
The victory was the 23rd in the career of 33-year-old Adesanya, in MMA he lost twice. 35-year-old Pereira suffered a second defeat, with seven victories to his credit.
