Sporting wants Brazilian midfielder Jean Lucas, target of Santos and Palmeiras

Sporting, from Portugal, wants to remove the Brazilian defensive midfielder Jean Lucas from Monaco in the next transfer window. The midfielder is one of the reinforcements requested by coach Rúben Amorim and the Portuguese club will have to pay around 9 million euros (R$ 49.6 million) to hire the player.

The 24-year-old athlete was targeted by Santos e palm trees this season, but none of the São Paulo clubs managed to close the deal. The Sporting coach believes that the “factor Champions League” can be essential in negotiation.

Currently, Sporting is fourth in the Portuguese Championship, with 54 points. In Portugal, only the top three qualify for the Champions League. Braga, who are in third place, have 59 points, five more than Sporting.

With seven more rounds in dispute, Sporting is chasing the points to finish the competition within the Champions League classification zone. If not, the Portuguese team is still in the quarterfinals of Europa League, in which he will face Juventus. The title of the European competition would give the Portuguese a spot in the Champions League.

Jean Lucas was revealed by Flamengo and loaned to Santos in 2019, where he stood out and was sold to Lyon. After two seasons without many opportunities, he was loaned to Brest. In 2021 he arrived at Monaco, where he still works today. In the current season he only made 10 games.
