Toulouse beat Annecy with a late goal to reach the French Cup final

This Thursday, Toulouse visited Annecy and won the clash valid for the semifinal of the French Cup by 2 to 1. Zakaria Aboukhlal and Farès Chaïbi scored for the visitors and Alexy Bosetti scored from the penalty spot for the home team.

Toulouse now face Nantes, who defeated Lyon, in the big French Cup decider on April 29, with a time yet to be confirmed.

Before the grand final, Toulouse still has commitments for Ligue 1. The next one is against Montpellier, away from home, on Sunday, at 10 am (Brasília time). Annecy receives Valenciennes on Monday at 3:45 pm for Ligue 2.

The game

Annecy started the match with less possession of the ball, but finishing more on goal. Even so, Toulouse made the ball count at their feet, grew offensively on the field and opened the scoring in the 36th minute, through Zakaria Aboukhlal. In the final stretch of the first half, the home team conceded a penalty, which was converted by Alexy Bosetti in the 50th minute of the opening stage, tying the match.

The final stage started with fewer chances created by both sides. Who generated the most opportunities was Toulouse, but without posing too much danger to goalkeeper Haug. That was until the 40th minute, when midfielder Farès Chaïbi put the visiting team ahead again and left Toulouse one step away from the final.

In the last minutes, Annecy was not efficient in the final pressure and created little to try to force the penalties. With that, Toulouse stamped their spot in the big decision of the French Cup.
