Pozdnyakov suggested that the IOC will review the requirements for the admission of Russians to tournaments

The head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), Stanislav Pozdnyakov, spoke about the requirements of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the return of Russians to tournaments. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“Our opponents actually admit that the unfair sanctions adopted a year ago need to be reviewed. Yes, not all, but this process has begun, and it is irreversible,” he said. Pozdnyakov suggested that the IOC would once again revise the requirements for the admission of Russians.

On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be suspended from participating in tournaments.

At the end of February 2022, most sports organizations suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus on the recommendation of the IOC. In some disciplines, such as motorsport, cycling, tennis, boxing, MMA and chess, Russians play in a neutral status.
