Poland refused to host the stage of the World Cup in foil fencing due to the admission of Russians

Poland refused to host the stage of the Foil Fencing World Cup among women due to the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to the tournament. This was reported on the website of the Polish Fencing Federation.

The tournament was to be held in PoznaƄ. The federation noted that they are concerned about the participation of Russians and Belarusians in competitions without much control.

Poland became the fifth European country to cancel the competition after the admission of Russians and Belarusians. Previously, Denmark, Germany, Finland and France did this.

On March 10, it was reported that the International Fencing Federation decided to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete. The return of the teams to the starts in a neutral status will take place no earlier than mid-April 2023.
