Striker Lukaku, from Inter Milanwas the victim of racism by fans of the Juventus last Tuesday, in a game valid for the semifinal of the Coppa Italia. This Wednesday, the club and the league took a position on the regrettable act and said they were collaborating to find those responsible.
In the 1-1 draw in Turin, some individuals imitated a monkey and cursed the player. Lukaku, by the way, was the one who decreed the tie, when he scored from the penalty spot in the second half.
“Juventus, as always, is collaborating with the police to identify those responsible for the racist gestures and shouts that took place last night,” the team published,
“Serie A firmly condemns any episode of racism and any form of discrimination. Some characters present in the stands cannot spoil the spectacle of football and do not represent the thoughts of all fans and fans of the stadium, who happily share the highest values of sport.”
Inter Milan and Juventus will play the second leg only on April 26. The game is scheduled to start at 4 pm (Brasília time), at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, in Milan. If the score remains equal, the decision will go to overtime and, if necessary, to penalties.
The other semifinal is being decided between Cremonese and Fiorentina.
