Bill Daley called the news about a series of matches between Canadians and Russians false
Deputy Commissioner of the National Hockey League (NHL) Bill Daly spoke about the emerging information about the series of matches between Canadians and Russians. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Daley dismissed the news that the NHL was planning to host these meetings as a lie. Earlier, the head of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), Luc Tardif, said that he had not heard about this idea.
On April 3, journalist Aleksey Andronov, citing three independent sources, reported that the Ice Hockey Federation of Canada and the NHL plans to play three matches with Russian players playing in the league. It was specified that the series will take place no earlier than 2024. The Games will be held in Canada and the cities have already been determined.
At the start of the 2022/2023 season, 50 Russian players were playing in the NHL. On February 4, ten of them took part in the League All-Star Game. In particular, the captain of the Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin, together with his son Sergei, performed a bullet.
