Earlier, RBC, citing a source close to the skater, told the details of Kostomarov’s recovery. “Roman’s condition remains stable, he no longer needs a tracheostomy, but he still remains in the intensive care unit,” the source said.
On March 28, it became known that doctors managed to stop the spread of necrosis in Kostomarov’s body, cerebral circulation returned to normal. RT reported that the skater was being prepared for prosthetics.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on 10 January. He was diagnosed with left-sided pneumonia in combination with influenza B. According to Moskovsky Komsomolets, both feet were amputated for the 46-year-old athlete, then the shins of both legs and the entire right hand, as well as several fingers of the left hand.
