Everything is ready for Itzulia 2023 to start. The Basque race will be held between April 3 and 8and all stages will be broadcast live on eitb.eus and ETB1. Besides, Radio Euskadi and Euskadi Irratia will carry out special monitoring.

The 62nd edition of the Itzulia will have six stages and there will be no time trial. The Basque round will have a luxury poster. The great favorite is the champion of the Tour de France 2022 Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo Visma) and the current Itzulia champion, Daniel Felipe Martinez (Ineos Grenadiers). Basque cyclists will not miss the event either Pello Bilbao and Mikel Landa (Bahrain – Victorious) and Ion Izagirre (Cofidis). Other prominent names are: David Gaudú (Groupama-FDJ), Simon Yates (Jayco-Alula), and enric mas (Movistar).

Itzulia 2023 will start in Vitoria-Gasteizand will reach labastida in its first stage; the second daywhich will take the race to Navarra, starts in Viana and concludes in Leitza; the third stagein Gipuzkoa, leaves from errenteria and will have the goal in Amasa-Villabona; the stage 4, Santurtzi-Santurtziand the 5, Ekin-Amorebieta-Etxano – Amorebieta-Etxanowill fine-tune the general classification for the sixth and last, Eibar-Eibarwhich is expected to be decisive, due to its hardness.

Three days before the start of the race, the organization announced the modification of the routes of the 3rd and 5th stage. Therefore, the 3rd stage will have a route of 162.2 kilometers instead of the 153.9 kilometers originally planned, while the 5th stage will have a route of 164.5 kilometers; that is, 1,400 meters less than those previously announced.

23 teamsthe 18th UCI WorldTeam category and others five in the UCI ProTeam categoryamong which are Euskaltel-Euskadi, Caja Rural and Kern Pharmathey will be at the Itzulia starting line.

Stage 1 (April 3): Vitoria-Gasteiz – Labastida (165.4 km)

Stage 2 (April 4): Viana – Leitza (193.8 km)

Stage 3 (April 5): Errenteria – Amasa-Villabona (153.8 km)

Stage 4 (April 6): Santurtzi – Santurtzi (175.7 km)

Stage 5 (April 7): Amorebieta-Etxano – Amorebieta-Etxano (165.9 km)

Stage 6 (April 8): Eibar – Eibar (137.8 km)
