Midfielder Dixon Arroyo’s hours at Emelec may be numbered. The footballer was excluded from the list of players who will visit Delfin this Saturday, in Portoviejo, for the fourth term of the Pro League.

Due to the two-month debt, as confirmed by the football player, the team decided to stop the morning training on Thursday in solidarity with his teammate.

José Pileggi Véliz, president of Emelec, was asked about Arroyo’s position and replied in an angry tone: “You have to ask him.”

“There is no (abnormal) situation. We are up to date with our obligations, and everything will be resolved disciplinary with the person who caused this,” he added.

Speaking to a digital media outlet, Arroyo indicated that he had sent a notification to the Pro League about the debt issue and clarified that it was not a “request”.

“If they want me to continue, I will. I have a lot of respect for the club, I’ve always done my best and never tried to harm the team, but these are things I’ve tried to talk about personally, internally with the club and I’ve never had an answer,” he commented.

“I wrote to the president, vice-president, manager, coordinator and no one gave me a reason (for the payment), the only thing they told me was that they wouldn’t pay me, which is not the case because the signed amounts must be paid, whether it’s a championship or not. Because if not, I could work those two months with another team and I don’t think the team will allow that, he added in an interview for studiofootball.

He insisted that he did not sue the Guayaquil institution and believes that President Pileggi “misunderstood” his situation.

“It is not a request but a notification. The matter was misunderstood by the League Pro and the president, but it must be resolved. I thank my colleagues for their support,” he said.

“As players, we try to keep the locker room healthy and that’s why those who came fit in well with the team, no difference was noticed in the professional staff or leadership. We tried to make many things within the club as they should be”, he added.

When asked about his situation in the team coached by Miguel Rondelli, the midfielder said that he had not received any notification about his continuity.

“Until they tell me otherwise (not to train) I have to be in the club and train. Thank God I have the support of my teammates because it’s not just me, there are more players,” he concluded.

He also indicated that he already had a meeting with Jorge Bonnard, the millionaire vice president, and they agreed on a payment plan. (D)
