Oksana Domnina, wife of Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov, denied the information about the transfer of the athlete to a German clinic. Her words are quoted by TASS.
Domnina said that their family has not discussed and is not discussing a possible move. “Treatment is proceeding according to plan with the involvement of the best freelancers in the right direction for Roman,” she added.
Earlier, on March 31, the REN TV channel reported that Kostomarov could be transferred to a clinic in Germany to create and install prostheses. It was noted that the athlete and his family are also considering Russian medical centers.
On March 28, it became known that doctors managed to stop the spread of necrosis in Kostomarov’s body, cerebral circulation also returned to normal. RT reported that the athlete was being prepared for prosthetics.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on 10 January. He was diagnosed with left-sided pneumonia in combination with influenza B. According to Moskovsky Komsomolets, the skater was amputated with both feet, then the shins of both legs and the entire right hand, as well as several fingers of the left hand.
