Gonzalo Montiel, the winger who took the last penalty in the dispute against France that won the title of Qatar World Cup to Argentina, was accused of sexual abuse.
The complaint is of aggravated sexual abuse and the crime would have occurred on January 1, 2019, during a birthday party for Montiel at his home, located in the Argentine city of La Matanza. At the time, the now Sevilla winger defended the colors of River Plate.
According to Raquel Hermida, the complainant’s lawyer, Montiel had seen her client “only twice” before the incident and the two maintained a “little relationship”. The victim was unconscious during the party and therefore does not know if other people participated in the abuse.
