He eibar has presented this Thursday his official mascotwhose name will be chosen by voting through the club’s website gunsmith from today, March 30, until April 16.

In this way, from now on the Gipuzkoan team will be represented by a donkeyan animal that, as described by himself eibar by means of a note, “gathers the values of the entity: work, perseverance, humility and empathy”.

Those interested in taking part in the choice of the name must opt for one of the following three options: Armagin, Astogintxo either pantxika.

As mentioned by the eibar, “donkeys have been very present in the history of Eibar”. Barely a century ago, wheat and corn were mainly cultivated, which was possible thanks to the efforts of these animals, which then populated the slopes of Akondia and garagoiti. Today, there are hardly any farmhouses left in the area and the cultivation of cereals has practically stopped, just some corn, and they explain that “donkeys have become seriously endangered”.

With this initiative, the Eibar entity wanted honor to all those donkeys who helped “Eibar evolve to what it is today”. It is a memory, but above all admiration for an animal “hard-working and friendly, hard-working and docile and very intelligent”.
