The head of the sports medicine clinic, Victoria Badtieva, predicted the rehabilitation period for the Olympic ice dancing champion Roman Kostomarov. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
“Roman is an athlete of the highest level, and this will help him recover as soon as possible, despite such a severe course of the disease,” the doctor said. She recalled that the World Health Organization recommends including 150 minutes of physical activity every week in your schedule to reduce the risk of complications from cardiovascular and oncological diseases.
On March 28, it became known that doctors managed to stop the spread of necrosis in Kostomarov’s body, cerebral circulation also returned to normal. RT reported that the athlete was being prepared for prosthetics.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on 10 January. He was diagnosed with left-sided pneumonia in combination with influenza B. According to Moskovsky Komsomolets, the skater was amputated with both feet, then the shins of both legs and the entire right hand, as well as several fingers of the left hand.
