The RFU ordered the players to annually deduct two percent of salaries for the work of sports schools
The Russian Football Union (RFU) officially obliged the players to transfer part of their salaries to the work of sports schools. This was reported on the website of the organization.
The reform of compensation payments for the training of players was approved at a meeting of the executive committee of the RFU. It is specified that the annual contribution will be two percent of earnings for men and five percent for women. “Linking the solidarity payment to the players’ salaries will allow for a more fair assessment of the quality of football players’ training. The new mechanism will make it possible to make regular payments instead of lump sums,” the organization explained.
The intention of the executive committee of the RFU to carry out the corresponding reform became known on March 21. “This is not a one-time payment, it should be throughout the entire career of a football player,” said Denis Rogachev, Deputy Secretary General of the RFU.
On February 26, Sochi forward Georgy Melkadze responded to those who compare the salaries of football players with those of doctors and firefighters. “Probably, it is necessary not to decrease the money from the players, but to add money to doctors and firefighters,” the player said.
