Fury’s promoter Frank Warren says Usyk fight could take place in July 2023
British boxer Tyson Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has called possible options for postponing the fight against Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk. His words are quoted by vRINGe.com.
“Option #1 is if Usyk passes his mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois. Then we will have a chance to fight in Saudi Arabia. The second option is to offer Dubois compensation, ”Warren said. He added that if the second plan is implemented, the boxers’ meeting could take place in July 2023.
On March 22, Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas announced the cancellation of the fight between Usyk and Fury. The boxers were supposed to fight on April 29, negotiations for the fight have been going on since the fall of 2022. “No matter how much Usyk compromised, he was still put forward new demands,” he stressed.
Fury has 33 wins, one draw and no losses. He owns the World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight championship belt.
Usyk has 20 wins in 20 fights. He holds the World Boxing Organization (WBO), International Boxing Federation (IBF), International Boxing Organization (IBO) and WBA Super heavyweight championship belts.
