WBC CEO Suleiman Says Wilder vs Ruiz Fight Will Determine Fury’s Next Opponent

The head of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Mauricio Suleiman, spoke about the new fight of Briton Tyson Fury. His words are quoted by Boxing Scene.

“The fight between Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz will determine Tyson Fury’s next title defense opponent,” Suleiman said. He noted that he was extremely disappointed with the failure of the bout between the British and the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk.

On March 22, Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas announced the cancellation of the fight between Usyk and Fury. The boxers were supposed to fight on April 29, negotiations for the fight have been going on since the fall of 2022. “No matter how much Usyk compromised, he still put forward new demands,” he stressed.

Fury has 33 wins, one draw and no losses. He owns the World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight championship belt.

Usyk has 20 wins in 20 fights. He holds the World Boxing Organization (WBO), International Boxing Federation (IBF), International Boxing Organization (IBO) and WBA Super heavyweight championship belts.
