Uruguay faced South Korea this Tuesday, in a friendly held at the Goyang Stadium, and won by 2-1.
At the World Cup, the Uruguayans ended up falling right away in the group stage. Their tormentor ended up being precisely the Koreans, who advanced to the round of 16 thanks to a superior goal difference.
This was Uruguay’s last engagement on their Asian mini tour. Last Friday, the team drew with Japan at the National Stadium, in Tokyo.
Uruguay took the lead with Sebastian Coates, who scored with a header ten minutes into the first half, but was leaked early in the second half and conceded equality with a goal by In-Beom Hwang.
At 19 minutes, however, Matias Vecino took advantage of the rebound after a free kick and gave the Uruguayan victory. Kim Young-Gwon would even match the match again after ten minutes, but the bid was invalidated.
