Footballer “Torpedo” Ilya Stefanovich spoke about participation in match-fixing
Forward of the club of the Russian Premier League (RPL) “Torpedo” Ilya Stefanovich admitted to participating in match-fixing in the lower leagues. His words are quoted by Sport24.
The athlete said that in Znamya Truda and Chernomorets, the players were engaged in “non-painting football activities” and made money on it. “I was once told during the game: “If you aggravate it again, we’ll have a serious talk with you in the locker room.” They said right on the field. I answered: “Okay, okay, talk,” he shared.
Stefanovich played for Znamya Truda from January to July 2015. The player spent the entire 2018/2019 season with Chornomorets. The footballer moved to Torpedo in February 2023. He played four matches for the Moscow team in all tournaments and scored one goal.
Earlier, Torpedo striker Igor Lebedenko spoke about participating in matches that were unsportsmanlike. According to him, there were several such meetings, but he noted that he did not know how to check his suspicions.
