In Moscow, the court released a football fan who attacked the journalist from arrest

The Moscow City Court changed the measure of restraint for the former head of the fan club of the capital’s Spartak, Valentin Korshunov, who attacked and beat RBC journalist Alexander Shchegolev. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the court.

The court granted the appeal of Korshunov’s defense and released him on bail of one million rubles.

On October 22, the fan was arrested until December 21. He was charged under Part 3 of Article 144 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Obstruction of the legitimate professional activities of a journalist”). Korshunov was also fined and banned from attending football matches for two years.

The incident took place on October 20 after the meeting between Spartak and English Leicester at the Otkrytie Arena stadium in Moscow. The fan attacked Shchegolev, who was filming him. Korshunov at this moment was drunk and insulted the correspondent. Spartak strongly condemned the fan attack on the journalist.

The red and whites lost 3: 4 to Leicester in the match of the third round of the group stage of the Europa League. Until the end of the first half, the hosts had a two-goal advantage.
