Ecuador’s Marlon Chito Vera will be looking to add to his fifth straight win, something that would move him closer to contention for the long-awaited UFC bantamweight title, as Manabita takes on American Cory Sandhagen, who was already a challenger for the interim title.
The fight, which brings together the numbers three and five in the rankings, was arranged for five rounds, an absolute war, according to Dana White, the president of the UFC.
The Ecuadorian (20-7-1 MMA, 14-6 UFC) arrives with four consecutive victories, the last one against American Dominick Cruz, whom he defeated by knockout.
For his part, Sandhagen (15-4 MMA, 8-3 UFC), coming in with a win in his last three fights, will try to surprise the manabita in order to maintain his aspirations to enter the ranking podium.
“This card is excellent from top to bottom and you can’t miss it. If they didn’t know, now they do!” said White.
