22-year-old Ukrainian boxer Maxim Galinichev died in the special operation zone
The Boxing Federation of Ukraine (FBU) reported the death of 22-year-old Ukrainian boxer Maxim Galinichev. The corresponding statement leads RIA Novosti.
According to the FBU, the athlete died in the zone of the special military operation (SVO) on March 10.
It is known that in May last year, the boxer refused to participate in the European Championship in order to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
The Boxing Federation noted the international awards of Galinichev, in particular, he was the European champion among youths in 2017 and the silver medalist of the Youth Olympic Games in 2018.
In February, the Russian silver medalist of the 2010 European Karate Championship, Secretary General of the Kyokushin Karate Federation Sergey Uvitsky died in the SVO zone. It is noted that he died while performing a combat mission. Joining the ranks of the Russian army, Uvitsky said that many athletes “were looking for an opportunity to use themselves in a special operation.”
