O Barcelona confirmed this Friday the muscle injury in the right thigh of Frenkie De Jong, who took the steering wheel of the Dutch selection for the first two games of the team in the qualifiers for the eurocup of 2024.
The tests carried out on the player found “an injury to the biceps femoris”, explained Barça in a statement, in which it does not indicate a recovery period.
“Exams carried out today have detected an injury to the biceps femoris on the right thigh of midfielder Frenkie De Jong. Its evolution will mark availability for the next games”, wrote the club on its social networks.

De Jong’s absence comes less than two weeks before the second leg of the King’s Cup semifinals against Real Madrid. Barcelona won the first meeting 1-0 and will be the host of the second leg, but even so, they could suffer with the midfielder’s absence. This season, the Dutchman started 28 matches out of the 37 in which he was available.
In addition to the Dutch midfielder, Barcelona midfielder Pedri and striker Ousmane Dembélé are in Barcelona’s medical department.
