Guus Hiddink expressed doubt that a player more talented than Arshavin will appear in Russia
Former head coach of the Russian national team Guus Hiddink called Andrei Arshavin the most talented Russian football player. His words are quoted by RB Sport.
The specialist expressed doubt that a player will ever appear in the country who will surpass Arshavin. “Andrei is one of the most gifted players I have ever seen,” Hiddink added.
Arshavin is a bronze medalist at the 2008 European Championship and former captain of the national team. The forward is also known for playing for Arsenal London, Kuban Krasnodar, Kairat Kazakhstan and Zenit Petersburg. Together with blue-white-blue, he became the champion of Russia three times, and also won the UEFA Cup and Super Cup in 2008.
Hiddink led the Russian national team from 2006 to 2010. Under him, the Russians won bronze medals at the 2008 European Championship. Then, under the leadership of the Dutchman, Russian football players beat the Netherlands national team in the 1/4 finals. In the semifinals, the Russian team lost to the future champions – the Spaniards.
