The stage will be characterized by its hardness, since the cyclists will have to overcome seven scoring ports during their journey (three in the 1st category, one in the 2nd category and another three in the 3rd category) to reach the finish line. In this way, as soon as they start, for kilometer 13, cyclists will glimpse the first ramps of elkorrieta3rd, with 2.6 kilometers at 6.7%, and then almost immediately they will run into the hard slopes of Azurkia 1st class port with average slopes of 7.4% in its 5.1 kilometer ascent.
Once they descend Azurki, the runners will look up again, this time at what will be the longest climb for the day: Gorla, 2nd category port with 9.6 kilometers in length at 5.7%. From its top, they will go down to Bergara, where they will have about 20 kilometers to try to catch some breath before facing the next appointment, that of Krabelin, of 1st category; This will be the greatest difficulty of the stage, since, despite the fact that its ascent is not long (5 kilometers), its average slope of 9.6% will greatly harden the work of the participants.
After leaving Krabelin behind, the cyclists will still have to cover the second half of the stage, with three other ports: trabakua (from 3rd, 3.3 kilometers and ramps at 7.1% on average), Izua (4.1 kilometers at 9.2%, 1st class) and Urkaregi (5 kilometers at 4.8%, 3rd). From this last stop, only 12 kilometers will remain to reach the finish line, most of them downhill.
It will be then when it is known who will be the winner of the 2023 edition and take over from Daniel Felipe Martinez.
The special sprints will arrive at kilometers 83 and 104, in step with the race for Markina Xemein and eibar.
The stage can be seen live, starting at 3:00 p.m.in ETB1 and in eitb.eus.
